Niki Taxidis is an Australian-born freelance photographer of Greek heritage. She completed a Bachelor of Medical Science and worked in remote areas of Australia in healthcare and forensic sciences for over 12 years. She spent two years as a crime-scene examiner and photographer and has volunteered in healthcare, education and photographic projects both overseas and within Australia.
Niki's work across diverse cultures in remote settings both in Australia and overseas has given her the experience and confidence to embrace assignments anywhere in the world.
Her passion for people, cultures, photography and travel drives her work.
Through her experience she has developed an innate ability to connect to people from different cultures, gain their trust and photograph them in their natural
setting.
"I have a preoccupation with displaced people and endangered cultural identities and I love to travel to places I consider magical – uncommonly beautiful places exuding power and mystery – most commonly ancient mystical
civilizations."
"I believe that powerful images create a real awareness of social justice issues, both humanitarian and environmental - and inspire all of us to make a difference.
My images celebrate compassion and diversity in this global village of ours. And my passion is to tell the stories that concern us all." Niki Taxidis
